“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”- Matthew 11:28-30
With great pleasure and happiness, let me welcome all of you to the official website of St.George Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church, Frankfurt, Germany. St. George MSOC is a congregation under the Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church in India, which is a part of Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch.
Our Lord is inviting us to be with Him, to be in peace and tranquility, not for His benefit but for ours; to learn from Him, to receive His eternal grace and peace, to acquire divine wisdom, and so on. And the church is a place where we could realize this divine presence which is promised. So, we should follow in the footsteps that our Lord Jesus showed to us during His Salvific ministry. He taught us to be in prayers, to celebrate Holy Eucharist until His second coming, to read and meditate the Holy Scripture, to reconcile with everyone, to do good even to enemies, to love all, to imitate Him in all our being, to be kind and compassionate, etc. These are the gifts we receive when we are in the church in relationship with our Lord.
In the church, we could foretaste the spiritual experience in heaven. So, we should find time to be in His bosom with our family and loved ones. As Solomon teaches, we should also ‘train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.’(Proverbs 22:6). For that, we have to know the right way to guide them and to proceed through. So, let our congregation be a success in showing us the right way through Orthodox faith, teachings, and prayers of Syriac Orthodox Church.
I am also praying for all who live in Diaspora to be blessed and filled with the Holy Spirit, through the grace of the Holy Trinity and the intercession of the blessed Holy Virgin Mary, and our patron St. George, and all the saints and martyrs of the Holy Church.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Paul Punnackal George
Vicar, St. George MSOC, Frankfurt
